Valve shim tappets on cylinder heads from factory are set to be within a range. An example of a manufacturer’s specifications can be from .010” to .015” on some cylinder heads which is a .005″ variation. Mass produced cylinder heads are usually within the manufacturer’s specifications but having the valve clearances set to the lowest side of the scale is not optimal.

At OzWIDE Engine Parts all complete heads that contain shim tappets we ensure are set midway to the high end of the scale, doing this will ensure longevity on our cylinder heads. Having the correct valve tappet clearance ensures your valves will have the optimal time to cool which helps prevent your valves burning out prematurely. All the cylinder head faces are inspected thoroughly, valve seats are vacuum tested to ensure perfect seals and if required additional machining is carried out.

On average OzWIDE Engine Parts spends 1.5-2 hours to fine tune every complete cylinder head to ensure they meet our quality controls.  We have aligned ourselves with manufacturers that we believe set our heads apart from others.
